NEWLY QUALIFIED UMPIRES 2023
BIG HEARTY CONGRAULATIONS to our new Umpires for 2023, Jan Lloyd and Terry Cleaver from Claudelands Bowling Club and Yvonne Carter from Putaruru Bowling Club.
We welcome you aboard our team of dedicated persons who undertake to keep games played correctly for the betterment of all players.
Lloyd Anderson from Te Awamutu Club has passed his Level 2 Theory side of the exam and has the practical part to complete. Well done.
Sue Rossiter from Bowls New Zealand undertook the pleasure of doing the Examinations… she was impressed with our new umpires and wished them well in their umpiring careers.
We changed our training programme a little bit this year, instead of running for 10 weeks we made it 7 weeks but extended each session to be from 10 am till 2 pm. This worked out very well for our candidates.
For those persons who were/are interested, but did not like the full 10 weeks course, then this new set up should work well for you. We look forward to your participation in next season’s Training.
There is also an ‘on-line’ theory course run through Bowls NZ Umpires committee if this format suits anyone better. Contact me about this.
Our next intake for new trainees will be next year around about June, so watch for the posters. Or you can contact Myself 027 6869368 or Margo and Brian Watson 07 8785177 for any enquiry.
Grateful thanks go to Margo and Brian Watson, our Head Tutors, assisted By Ian Bardsley, and Graham Gunn, for their excellent tutelage of our new umpires.
Once again Congratulations to our new umpires, enjoy your new role in our great sport.
Regards
Eileen Stephens
Umpire Co-Ordinator.
